Other Services
Seniors’ Centre for Excellence
The Seniors’ Centre for Excellence is funded under the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network’s Aging at Home Strategy.
The Ministry of Health has dedicated over 700 million dollars over the next three years to the Province of Ontario to assist seniors to stay in their homes by offering a wide variety of services to maintain independence.
The Seniors’ Centre for Excellence is a resource centre that seniors or their caregivers can contact to determine the types of supports that are available to assist them in staying safely in their home of choice.
We also work with community partners to increase educational and recreational opportunities to ensure the overall health and well being of the seniors in our area.
Our catch phrase is “Not sure what services are available to you as a senior or caregiver in Mapleton, Town of Minto or Wellington North? Then give us a call at 519 638 1000 or toll free at 1 866 446 4546; if we don’t know the answer we will find it “

DRAYTON & COMMUNITY CITIZEN'S ASSOCIATION
Prior to 1972, a group of concerned citizens alarmed about Health Care in Drayton and the surrounding vicinity held meetings to try and raise funds to build a local medical clinic. The members of the association canvassed the area and for each dollar raised, the Co-operative Health Services matched the donation. Enough money was raised, and soon our present Drayton Community Health Centre was up and running. Currently the facility is home to two family physicians, a dentist and an optometrist. When the Health Centre was first built, Doctors paid rent each month and the Board of Directors looked after the maintenance of the building and also had a sizable loan to pay off for the building. In 1988 the building was sold to the practicing physicians. These funds were invested and the interest is now used each year to provide scholarships to medical schools and other groups throughout the Township of Mapleton under the guidance of the Board of Directors. In order to attract Doctors to our under serviced area, community wide fundraisers were held in the Mapleton area 4 years ago with an incredible $70,000.00 raised. This money has been used as a signing bonus and has helped to attract 2 doctors to the Drayton Community Health Centre. For further information on the association, please contact President Ab Hesselink at (519) 638-2122, or Vice President Allan Jackson at (519) 638-2213 or Secretary-Treasurer Connie Walker at (519) 638-2594.
