Public Works Department and Recreation Department

The Public Works Department of the Township of Mapleton is responsible for the maintenance of 365.9 km of roadway. We operate from two works yards, one located adjacent to the Township office at 7275 Sideroad 16, with the other yard located at 1 Hillwood Drive off County Road 10 on the North edge of Moorefield.

Roads maintained consist of 4.4 km of urban roads, 24.3 km of semi urban roads and 337.2 km of rural roads.

There are 40 bridge structures with a 6 metre span and over, 47 structures with a 3 metre span, but less than 6 metres.

Average daily traffic counts on our infrastructure range from low volume roads with ten to twenty-five cars per day to over 1,000 cars per day. These traffic conditions can change the working conditions that our roads employees encounter doing their daily preventive and constructive maintenance projects.

Please respect our road maintenance vehicles when you visit or pass through our proud municipality.

Municipal Utilities are provided in some areas.
