Planned Power Outage – Sunday, September 20

Hydro One has scheduled a planned power outage for Sunday, September 20, from 1:15 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. while crews complete important maintenance work on electricity equipment near the Elmira Transformer Station.

Crews will be replacing insulators, which are critical to the safe and reliable operation of the power system. This work is being completed to help ensure customers continue to receive reliable power.

Who will be affected?

Approximately 940 Hydro One customers in Mapleton, along with some Enova customers, are expected to experience a power outage during the scheduled work.

The outage has been scheduled during a period when electricity use is typically lower to help minimize the impact on customers.

Affected Hydro One customers have been notified through an automated phone call or text message.

Preparing for the outage

Residents who will be affected are encouraged to prepare in advance by:

• Fully charging cellphones and other electronic devices.
• Ensuring appliances, including stoves, are turned off.
• Using a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone for morning alarms.
• Keeping refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible during the outage.
• Using a cooler with ice for any food or other items that may be needed during the outage.
• Filling jugs with water for drinking and cooking if your home's water service may be affected.
• Using generators only in a dry outdoor area, away from open windows, doors and vents.
