Property Standards

The Township of Mapleton's Property Standards By-law and Clean & Clear By-law set minimum standards for building and property maintenance within the Township. According to these By-laws, all property owners are required to ensure their buildings, structures and yards are kept clean, tidy and free of any garbage or waste. 

Property Standards Violations

The Township of Mapleton inspects properties when a complaint about the conditions are received. Under the authority of the Ontario Building Code Act, Property Standards Officers are appointed to investigate the complaint and determine if a violation exists. If a violation is found, the Officer may issue a Property Standards Order. Any owner has the right to appeal to our Property Standards Committee if they are not satisfied with the terms of the Order.
